RAZER MAMBA + MAC OSX

If you have Mac and are afraid that Razer Mamba will not work on it, then I have good news for you. Razer Mamba works brilliantly also on Macintosh (OS 10.5) computers. I can tell it of my own experience; I have MacBook and I am using Mamba commonly.

What does work on Mac?

With the help of buttons for sensitivity settings it is possible to switch between sensitivity defaults (800/1200/1800/4000/5600 DPI). The buttons on the sides are in default settings assigned to functions forward and backward. One of them does nothing on Mac, other one turns on the Application Switcher (inherited from Mighty Mouse settings). It is not possible to install official mouse drivers on OS X, so if you want to change button configuration, you have to use the USB Overdrive X utility with which you can easily change the configuration of all buttons.

Other settings only in Windows

Though the USB Ovedrive X utility can change button behavior, it will not help you with profile setting or dock and mouse lighting. It is possible to set these attributes only using official driver which is not available for Mac. It is not a problem, though. All the settings are being saved to mouse internal memory, so it is sufficient to connect the mouse to Windows where it is possible to change settings. After connecting the mouse back to Mac it will still work the same way as you have set up on Windows.

Conclusion

Razer mamba is a brilliant mouse that can be used adequately also on both Mac and Linux systems, thanks to its internal memory where the settings are stored. The mouse works great in wire and wireless mode, and it charges (when in dock) even if MacBook is in sleep mode, and it can be quickly waken up using the mouse. If you are using dual-boot ond Mac with Windows, there is not a problem at all. You need to set up Mamba once and then you can use it with the same settings on both operating systems.
